Professor Chiinedu Ezirim Bernard

Professor Chinedu Ezirim is a distinguished Professor of Finance, Banking and Finametrics at the University of Port Harcourt, and one of Nigeria’s accomplished scholars in the fields of finance, banking and management sciences. A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree and MBA in Finance, Professor Ezirim later obtained his postgraduate degrees in Financial Economics from the University of Port Harcourt. He joined the University of Port Harcourt in 1994 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the academic ranks to become a Professor in 2007. Over the course of his remarkable career, he has held several strategic leadership positions within the University, including Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Dean of the Graduate School of Management, Business and Trade, and Head of the Department of Finance and Banking. He is also a long-standing Member of Senate of the University of Port Harcourt. Professor Ezirim’s academic contribution is extensive. His scholarship spans over 200 publications, including more than 150 journal articles, nine books and several book chapters. His research and teaching interests cut across finance, banking, financial economics, investment, risk management and finametrics. He has supervised more than 25 doctoral candidates, over 100 master’s students and well over 1,000 undergraduate students, while also assessing numerous professors and senior academics across Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing and Management. Beyond Nigeria, Professor Ezirim has served as an External Examiner to several universities and tertiary institutions and has participated in numerous international conferences across the United States and Europe. Many of his research papers have received Best Paper, Best Research and Outstanding Paper Awards from respected international academic and professional bodies. He is a Fellow and Distinguished Fellow of several professional institutes, academies and associations, and has held notable international positions, including President of the International Academy of Business, Washington D.C., and International Director of the International Academy of Business and Behavioral Sciences in the United States. His career reflects decades of scholarship, mentorship, institutional leadership and service to the advancement of knowledge.
